Summertime Staples
It has been a non-stop summer, and I'm enjoying all of the events and exciting gatherings to celebrate the season. This week, I am working with clients packing for their travels and wanted to share some great staples for any wardrobe, whether you are staying local or traveling far away. These thoughtfully curated pieces work beautifully and transition nicely from place to place or from brunch to lunch to cocktails to dinner!
Buffy Utility Dress by Derek Lam
This dress from Derek Lam is beautiful and creates a complete look without much effort. The feminine details give this maxi dress a flattering A-line silhouette, and the fabric is breathable and light during these hot days. This fun frock runs TTS, and you can style it with a platform sandal like I have, a chic flat, or a premium tennis sneaker and a classic pair of sunglasses. I also love the utility-style pockets and large tortoiseshell buttons up the center, and they are an eye-catching detail that gives the dress a little polish while still feeling casual.
Activewear by 1987 Active
I love a workout set that translates to a chic, effortless athletic look. 1987 Active is a local brand that I love. They focus on limited edition pieces and don't restock once they sell out, so act fast. I'm wearing the delicious, oversized Boston hoodie and Boston Butter Crop with matching Boston Butter Biker shorts - take your regular size in all their pieces. Not only are their pieces stylish and comfortable, but the quality and designs are what make this brand a must in your active and streetwear lineup. I completed the look with a sporty, shield-style pair of Bottega Veneta sunglasses and my favorite running shoe by Nike.
James Perse Midi Skirt
This James Perse midi skirt is a fabulous summertime staple because it is so versatile. It works with many different tops and shoes - from casual to more dressed. I went with a Free People high neck tank and embellished espadrille wedges for an elevated, body-hugging look. You can style this piece with a light sweater, a crop top if you're up for a little risk-taking, a shrunken tee or delicate cami, or keep it casual and add a distressed denim jacket. This skirt runs TTS and is made with the softest brushed jersey that holds its shape beautifully. It is a flattering fit with the high-waisted design and ruching along the sides and is finished (or unfinished!) with a raw hemline - which I love.
Overalls by Free People
These wide-leg overalls by Free People are so cute if you're looking for a comfortable, casual look. I love the wide-leg style because it gives the romper a dressier, more elevated feel while still feeling understated with the strap details and subtle print of the fabric. I styled these with a large straw hat and a fitted tank, but you can add a fun bucket hat, oversized sunnies, your favorite sky-high wedges or platform sandals, and some layered jewelry for the perfect day-to-night look.
