Dresses For Daytime Events

What Are We Wearing?

As warmer days approach, all the invites to fabulous Spring parties and events follow shortly after. I can’t wait to bring out some new pieces I have been saving to wear and style. Check out some of my picks from this week’s shopping adventure on fun and unexpected ideas for dresses for your daytime events.

Nautical Style
The stripes of summer are big for Spring this year. Lots of nautical-inspired looks are gracing our screens for sweaters, dresses, skirts, and bags. I am loving this take for a dress with some substance, this one is by Zimmerman. Whether it’s a true nautical stripe or a rich royal blue, these dresses work beautifully for almost any daytime event. Add some pop with a bright red manicure or red lip, and keep the shoe neutral, like a woven jute or black strappy sandal. This classic look suits everyone and will wear beautifully for years to come.

Elevated Beachy Vibes

I suggest a bright maxi dress in a punchy color like a fiery red or bright orange for a beach-inspired event or a waterfront celebration. The length will give the look a formal feel, while the bright color will make it feel fun and summery. Style it with a black bag and bold-colored sunnies to create a strikingly modern look and shiny sandals for drama. Not into bright colors? Go with an ivory midi-length dress. This style feels soft, feminine, and very approachable if your personal style leans more toward neutrals. I love a plunging neckline or open back on a simpler-looking dress to give some edge, and then let the accessories shine by adding a subtle shift in color

Garden Party Chic

Floor-length floral and printed looks are serving style this Spring. If you want a more formal take, opt for a long silk dress with a rich design like this Rodarte piece with roses. It’s giving me a throwback to Carrie Bradshaw with the rose applique at the neckline. I’d style it with a metallic strappy sandal to keep the formal feel and a bag in a coordinating color to pull it together.  This Summer maxi by Farm Rio is slightly more casual but another fantastic option for your spring social calendar, keep the accessories neutral for this piece and let the print take center stage.
