Unexpected Summer Looks

August is here, and as we start to think about transitioning our wardrobes for Fall, I am working with some unexpected textures, colors, and shapes to close out the season.

Sparkle For Summer

I was searching for the perfect party dress for a client and had to keep one for myself! This sparkly sequin gold dress by Amanda Uprichard, aptly named Samba, is a stunner! It has a glamorous, red carpet feel to it with an asymmetric hem and cowl neck, and who doesn't love an open back? I'd keep this around for formal cocktail parties, a show, girls' night out, New Year's, and holiday celebrations, to name a few. Wear it with a gold strappy stiletto sandal, or when the weather gets cooler, style it with a sexy black stocking and a black heel. I could find a lot of reasons to keep this dress in rotation throughout the year, so don't feel confined to Summer. The metallic gold sequins are a versatile texture and neutral color that lends itself to many formal occasions.

Bold & Rich Color

The Ainsley dress by Diane Von Furstenberg is a vibrant yet classic maxi. I love the bright yellow and orange colors mixed into the prints that overlay each other. Not only is this beauty comfortable, but the lightweight voile fabric has the most beautiful flow, almost like a ball gown but much more low-key. Wear it strapless or tied at the neck, and bring it along for any of your end of Summer travels. Style it with a metallic sandal, chunky espadrille, and statement earrings to finish the look.

Silk & Satin Minimalism

There is something so chic about a gorgeous slip skirt and a simple tank. I love this look; luckily, a quality silk slip skirt is in my top 5 for best transition pieces for Fall! Dress it up with a minimal heel or go casual with tennis shoes and a denim jacket over your tee or tank. It's such an easy outfit that automatically makes you feel put together and stylish without much effort. In the Fall, style a silk slip skirt with a turtleneck or crewneck sweater and that same sandal or sneaker for a chic crossover - it is truly a versatile piece to have in your closet. I love the balancing of the shine of silk and delicate silhouette with a cool and super casual, understated tee, it is such a great look, and anyone can wear it and look absolutely fabulous.
