The Cowboy Aesthetic

What Are We Wearing?

While we have been seeing the Cowboy/Cowgirl aesthetic for a couple of years now, Beyonce certainly lit it on fire during her Super Bowl commercial for her new album, Act II. If you've been curious about testing out the latest trend to hit our feeds, I have a few tips below to help you get started.

Denim:

Denim is probably the easiest place to start if you want to incorporate Western-inspired looks into your closet. I love this denim wrap dress for a great daytime option or a one-piece denim jumpsuit for a social occasion. These all-in-one looks are finished with modern details and provide a flattering body-hugging fit, making it feel sexy and exciting. Style your new denim pieces with heels and a fabulous hat or belt to complete the look. If you want a toned-down Western vibe, start with a vintage wash pair of great-fitting denim and add a soft blouse, layered cardigan set, or a cute quilted jacket in place of a blazer to keep it subtle but still very chic.

Skirts:

Skirts have been fun to shop for and work into this budding trend! Leather variations, fringe details, and prominent seams are stealing the show—style a cowgirl-inspired leather skirt with boots, and tights or your favorite pair of heels. Keep the attention on the details on the skirt and opt for a cleaner silhouette on top but a fine kit sweater, turtleneck, or silky blouse with a cropped jacket or blazer.

Accessories:

An easy way to jump on the Cowboy/Cowgirl aesthetic is to add a unique accessory. Boots are trending big time with Western-style shapes and textures. Add a pair of Cowboy-style boots to a skirt, ruffle dress, or with your favorite denim. I love a good hat, and these wide-brim Cowboy hats are both elegant and stylish without being over the top. Add a chic Western-style hat to your casual weekend looks; they are also great for these blinding and bright winter days. Belts are a lot of fun to shop for right now - there are so many gorgeous options out there from all designers. The distressed styles and unique hardware finishes make these special pieces work perfectly with all your looks - from a business suit to a laid-back tee and denim ensemble. A cool Cowgirl belt instantly takes your overall look to another level with minimal effort, and you will wear these styles for years to come.
