Spring Finds for May
Spring 2025 has been full of fashion surprises with some bold new staples I've added to both my and my clients' closets. As the weather gets warmer (and hopefully stays that way!) and our calendars fill, I challenge clients to rethink how we layer different pieces, mix and match colors and pieces, and make an overall fashion statement. Three key pieces I scooped up and have been loving lately are a tangerine suit, a nostalgic crochet that feels cozy, and a menswear-inspired bustier, to name a few.
The Power of Spring Suiting
I talk a lot about suiting as it's a big part of my clients' needs, and this season is no different. I am gathering lots of suiting inspo because the art of the suit has evolved far past the boardroom. A beautiful, well-made suit in a great color is perfect for a brunch, date night, or weekend event. This season, opt for pastel linens, fluid silks, and oversized blazers that drape like a second skin. These fashion staples are beloved for their visual appeal and because they are incredibly versatile, allowing us to create multiple different looks with just one piece. Style a chic, oversized blazer with distressed denim and gladiator sandals, or style the flowing silk trousers with a tank and baby cardigan. Soft tailoring is key to this season's trendiest suits; look for options in shades of sorbet like this tangerine suit by Sezane; other delicious colors to look for this Spring include pistachio, butter yellow, and powder blue.
Crochet Isn’t Just for the Beach
Crochet is shedding its boho-specific image this Spring. Designers are elevating this classic knit into something sleek, structured, and body-hugging, comfortable yet luxurious silhouettes. A new take on the maxi skirt, a crochet version like this Norma Kamali skirt styled with white, shapely poplin dress shirts or intricate crochet tanks tucked into your denim, makes for an effortlessly chic ensemble that feels current and fresh. If you want to avoid the retro vibe, opt for pieces with geometric or floral patterns, bold color combinations, or metallic threads woven throughout. Layer a crochet cami under a sharply cut blazer, or throw an open-weave crochet midi sundress over a bralette and wide-leg pants for a layered, dimensional look that feels whimsical and sexy
Menswear-Inspired Bustiers
Perhaps the most thrilling trend this Spring? Bustiers, reimagined through a menswear lens. Sharp shirting fabrics shaped into sculptural corsetry, pinstriped bustiers paired with flowing skirts, and suiting vests cinched tightly at the waist are all up for grabs this Spring. These pieces are all about power and polish. Wear a bustier over a button-down shirt for a bold twist on traditional layering, or make a statement solo with slouchy trousers or barrel-leg denim with a cropped peak lapel blazer draped over your shoulders finished with a pair of heels. A bustier adds an unexpected edge that feels feminine and powerful, and this versatile piece can easily be styled for daytime looks with denim or cargo bottoms or styled up for evening events over a tuxedo shirt or with wide-leg, flowing trousers.
