Pura Vida in Style: What I Wore on My Costa Rica Getaway

There’s something magical and free about visiting Costa Rica. The lush jungles, sun-drenched beaches, and vibrant city life all pulse with energy, vibrance, and color. On my recent trip, I packed light for convenience but styled intentionally, making sure every look could handle a bit of sand, sweat, or street chic adventures in San José. Here's how I blended comfort, adventure, and style for my Costa Rica getaway.

Beach Days in Tamarindo

I was going for barefoot glamour while visiting Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, known for its golden sands and laid-back surf towns. I lived in breathable linen and crochet separates like these wide-leg pants and a swim cover-up. These go-to’s are so easy to slip over a swimsuit, but still pulled-together enough for a beachside lunch. For swimwear, I wore a simple, string bikini in warm, summery tones like brown, peach, and ivory for a tropical feel that was chic enough for the beach to the lounge for a late afternoon refreshment. Bring your biggest raffia tote, oversized sunnies, and a straw bucket hat, and you’re golden (literally).

Jungle Adventures in Monteverde

Between ziplining through cloud forests and hiking to hidden waterfalls, I leaned into functional fashion with a stylish twist. Lightweight cargo drawstring pants, a knotted linen shirt, and a straw hat gave safari vibes while staying cool and sweat-friendly. A bandana is also a great add-on to throw in your bag because it doubles as a sweat towel and a neck scarf.

City Strolling in San José

Back in the capital, I wanted to feel a bit more polished but still breezy. I opted for a nautical striped two-piece set paired with strappy flat sandals. This look felt pulled together and easy, but still stylish. While perusing the city, I love to support local artisans by incorporating handcrafted accessories into my look. San José’s art galleries and shops offered endless style inspiration, from handwoven bags to colorful beaded jewelry. Costa Rica is all about living simply and dressing that way, too. Lightweight fabrics, versatile staples, and pops of color or texture go a long way.
