What to Wear to a Bar/Bat Mitzvah

The weather is getting nicer, the days are getting longer, and that can only mean one thing; the celebration season is upon us!  Between weddings and graduations, the bat/bar mitzvah is another celebration to prepare for on your calendar and in your closet.

Whether you’re invited to one, in one, or simply curious about this important event in Jewish culture, I have the perfect stylish picks.  A bat/bar mitzvah is a milestone in Jewish youth culture, making it the perfect platform to dress up and celebrate the boy or girl.  While going for a simple silhouette in a neutral color is a classic, I like to have fun with color and style to curate a look for this important occasion with a statement dress or pantsuit.

Modesty is key for this major celebration, so make sure to double check the invitation for synagogue specifics.  For a traditional and conservative service, skin will need to be more covered. I would opt for a simple wrap or structured jacket, because it also adds another layer of styling over my dress.
