Optimize Your Closet with Neiman Marcus: Part One
As we round the corner into 2021, what a perfect time to take stock of our wardrobe - our closet - and optimize it with the goal of keeping key pieces that you know you will wear, organizing them so that outfits are clearly identifiable, pruning out pieces that are not serving you well, and finding a few select pieces to complete your collection.
I am honored to be partnering with Neiman Marcus to bring you this four part series. As a worldwide leader and pioneer in luxury fashion and lifestyle goods, Neiman Marcus is not only the place to find the right pieces for your look but it is also a go to destination for their exceptional tailoring and customer service.
Stay tuned for parts two, three and four in the coming weeks!
Part One: Organizing Your Closet
With the help of Marisa Martorano, Brand Experience Lead at Neiman Marcus Boston, I pulled together my go to strategies for organizing your closet - getting it ready for as much or as little of a refresh as you would like.
First step is always: take everything out
Try on everything. If you don’t feel fabulous in it, it’s gone.
Put aside pieces you still love, but need a little TLC (don’t worry, we’ll come back to those in Part Two)
Decide on an organizational style that works for you
Color Coordinated [ombre style with all pieces (shirts, dresses, etc.) mixed]
Like Things Together [closet is broken down into categories]
Seasonal [best for those with larger closets- organize like seasonal pieces together]
Put everything back on the same style hangers
Looks so much better! Every morning you’ll feel like you’re getting ready in your favorite store.
Velvet slim hangers are the best for keeping things from sliding off, and taking up the least amount of space width wise = more clothes can fit!
Check out Outfit Your Closet for some great organizational tools including hangers and hanging picture frames to store photos of your favorite outfits. I put them to the test here.
Everything is organized, you only have options that you love, and getting dressed is as easy as 1,2,3.
Ideally, repeat steps 1 - 5 once a season, and consider working with a stylist (like me!) to help you - even virtually.
