How To Layer Jewelry
What Are We Wearing?
I have been getting requests on how to style jewelry for everyday looks, and I am so happy you are all into this as much as I am! The right accessories can make or break your look, and jewelry is no exception. I always add jewelry last, after selecting shoes and a bag, and before heading out the door. It has to feel comfortable and effortless unless you're Julia Roberts dripping in diamonds at the opera with Richard Gere, in which case more is definitely more.
Rings:
The stackable ring trend has become a classic look, and I am here for it. Not only does it allow you to add to your collection, but it flatters the finger without overpowering it. Opt for varying widths of your ring bands when piling your stack to give it some character, and mixing metals like silver, yellow, and rose gold creates an elegant and luxe look on any hand. Some brands I love are the eclectic and one-of-a-kind handmade pieces by Clover B Jewelry, the delicate and feminine details of Monica Vinader, and the classic and luxurious pieces from Ring Concierge.
Necklaces:
Remember the rule of three here - first, a choker at the neck; second, a middle layer at the collarbone; and third, a longer chain of at least 20" to add some drama. In addition to mixing metals, you can combine materials like leather, rope textures, charms, gemstones, and diamonds for more sparkle. Tandem Jewelry has beautiful styles to choose from, or you can choose a pre-layered look like this one by Gorjana. Don't be afraid to contrast thickness as well - combining a delicate chain with a chunkier one is fun and unexpected, as long as it's comfortable for you - explore the different ways of pairing your favorite bling; just remember to vary the lengths.
Bracelets:
Most of us wear multiple bracelets with our watches but try adding a few beaded pieces to your lineup by April Soderstrom. Her bracelets are super cute and blend beautifully with your hardware's metal tones. Typically with bracelets, I advise my clients to wear as many as they like since they're pretty comfortable and don't get in the way of your day-to-day activities, for the most part.
Earrings:
Multiple piercings in the ear are HUGE right now! This trend is the perfect excuse to add as many hoops and diamonds as your ear can hold. Jennifer Fisher has some great diamond ear cuffs that look edgy and clean. Another brand I love is Scosha for their unique designs, from studs to dangly charms; this look is so good. On the topic of earrings, be on the lookout for thick, chunky earrings trending next - this is a more high fashion aesthetic; these exaggerated styles work flawlessly with a simple neckline like a white button-down or a black turtleneck to give all the attention to your ears. Check out these gorgeous pieces from Bottega Veneta and Jennifer Fisher.
