How To Style Blazers

What Are We Wearing?

If you have been following me for a while, you know I love a good blazer. A few must-haves I recommend to my clients include investing in a well-made and finely-tailored blazer (or two or three) that you’ll get plenty of mileage out of for years to come.

White Blazers

I want to highlight white blazers, particularly because I find this look so current and chic. White isn’t just for Spring/Summer anymore; you can wear it all year long! White or cream tones are fabulous neutral colors to incorporate into your wardrobe because they add brightness and sophistication. Pair an ivory jacket with all types of denim or over a textured sweater dress to add some polish to your ensemble.

Short or Cropped Blazers

When it comes to the perfect blazer, there are two styles I like to work with. First is the cropped or shorter version - I love this classic silhouette style from Alexander McQueen. If you are more petite or tend to have a smaller waistline or curvier figure, this is the cut I recommend for you. Style this jacket over a maxi dress, high-rise denim, or a long skirt to balance the proportions of your outfit. If you find yourself eyeing a cropped-style blazer, this trend is hot right now; wear it with a tunic-style top, shirtdress, or sweaterdress to again, balance the look. Another option I love with a shorter blazer is a culotte pant, boots, and a cropped sweater. The boot coverage and matching sweater length pull this together effortlessly.

Long Blazers

Finally, a long blazer is all about elegance. I am obsessed with this one from Smythe and have worn it a few times this season already. This jacket is of remarkable quality, and the fit is incredible and very flattering as it hugs you in all the right places. I recommend this style jacket if you're average height or taller, but don't worry, it also suits petite figures. A long blazer wears beautifully with a shorter dress, tights, and an over-the-knee boot as we are trying to balance the proportions. Another elevated look is to style your long blazer with bootcut jeans, a tucked blouse, and heels = classic, chic, and fabulous.
