Leather & Sweater Weather
Rich, soft, buttery, cozy, chunky, warm, and elegant are some words that come to mind when I'm doing Fall shopping for my clients. Separates are especially fun to work with this season because the options are endless. Given the in-between climate, there are many lighter weight to heavier pieces to choose from - which are essential to maintaining comfort while achieving effortless style.
On Trend: The New Twin Set
I love this cable knit Seawater set by rokh - it highlights the latest take on the "sweater set" with a cropped bralette and coordinating chunky cardi. Pair this cozy two-piece with dark denim or a wide-leg trouser, and you're boldly stepping into the season. Experiment with this baby-soft set by styling it with ultra high-waisted leggings, a full-length knit skirt, or your favorite blue jeans and booties. This trend isn't about being too revealing but showing just a peek of your gorgeous shape. The oversized cardigan's sleeves, styled with a higher-rise bottom, create the perfect balance.
Classic, Soft, and Elegant in Earth Tones
This is an all-around classic look, year after year, that will never go out of style. A gorgeous luxe sweater, a well-made leather skirt in a delicious color, and killer boots. I chose a lightweight, figure-hugging, banded crew neck sweater by Rag & Bone in cream - a great staple item. You can wear this with almost anything in your closet, so if you love the fit and feel of it, I'd recommend picking it up in a couple of different colors. As you all know, I love my leather pieces, so this was an easy choice. I went with a Jonathon Simhkai wrap-style vegan leather skirt in taupe and finished with my favorite Stuart Weitzman croc-embossed knee-high boots in brown. Take your regular size in all three of these must-haves.
A Formal Sweater Dress
The Becky dress by Derek Lam is the ultimate in luxury with feminine details. It is made of the softest merino wool with a fold-down turtleneck that gently hugs without feeling tight or uncomfortable. I love the fit and flare silhouette on this dress, the long drape of the wool with the black leather and gold horse-bit side details quickly take this dress up several notches from typical daywear. Style this with your favorite boots, textured tights, and a gorgeous loafer or pump. If you’re opting for boots, try an unexpected color like cream, red, or emerald green leather or suede for a fun twist.
Leather Weather
Here is an elevated Fall outfit that's giving a little edge. I keep these SPRWMN leather culottes, a worthy investment, in my regular rotation because they are comfortable, flattering, and versatile. I can dress these up with a sweater and heels or keep them casual with a tee and a blazer. I chose my favorite Rag & Bone sweater in a dark marled brown to make this the perfect day-to-night fit, and added a classic black pump. Don't be afraid to mix dark colors like black, brown, charcoal, and navy - think of them as moody neutrals. They wear beautifully together, especially if you go from the office to dinner to drinks. Add some layered metallic jewelry if you want a little pop.
