Winter Style Inspiration
The harsh winter days can sometimes bring down our moods or motivation to get up and really get dressed. This week I am sharing some fresh looks to re-energize your style and help carry you over the cold-weather wardrobe hump.
Layers
You may have seen me share my love of layering on my Instagram lately. This is an easy and chic way to keep warm and show little peeks of lace, a pop of color, or a special trim detail like a scalloped edge, for example. Start with the lightest weight fabric as your base layer, and then pile on with a heavier weight. I also love to layer monochromatic tones for a more elevated look, like all-white or cream tones, greys, and browns.
Cozy Coats
Bring on all the snow storms and blustery winter days because these coats are too chic to sit at home. I am loving these Mackage puffer coats for several reasons. The shape is flattering and feminine, and you're not walking around like a puffed marshmallow in this brand. Mackage has gotten it right when it comes to constructing a garment to suit a woman's body, all while keeping you warm and toasty with reinforced lining and goose-down fill to lock in body heat. An ultra-luxe option from one of my favorite brands is the The Flinn coat by Khaite. Known for exquisite attention to detail and impeccable quality, Khaite is a luxury ready-to-wear collection that aims to reimagine American sportswear. Not only do I love the softness of this white hue, but the oversized sleeve and collar juxtaposed with the cropped length creates an elegant look and fit while feeling current and polished. So chic!
Wide-Leg Pants
From menswear-inspired trousers to wide-leg denim, this trend is here for the season, and I am all about it. This trend took off over a year ago but has since evolved into an all-around versatile look for all body types. You can go minimal with a crew neck sweater or sweatshirt, even with men's-style trouser pants for a cool girl look, or add a structured blazer and heels. I love it when a trend can crossover into multiple genres of style. These Le Palazzo wide-leg jeans from Frame are another must-have for winter. Whether you're dressing for a busy day of meetings, a lunch date, or a casual outing, these jeans look stylish with minimal effort. Opt for a cropped style jacket or blazer with a cashmere fitted sweater to balance the leg shape if you need a more put-together or dressier look. Or, take daytime to night with a puff-sleeved sweater or long-sleeve silk blouse, your favorite belt, hoop earrings, and high-heeled booties.
