How To Shop For The Perfect Tee

What Are We Wearing?

As we prep for warmer months ahead, I am refreshing closet staples for my clients like denim, trench coats, and tee's! I love a good tee shirt; the right fit and fabric create a casual chicness for a business casual or weekend look. Here are a few brands, at all price points, that I love to wear and what I look for when I am styling a client.

A good tee isn't just for jeans anymore - brands like Livotte London have created the most beautiful and feminine cut tee shirts designed to look like blouses but made of cotton - genius! Puffed shoulders, pleating, and ruffled details make these tee's a versatile option for transitioning your looks from the office to the weekend and beyond. These styles range from $100-$150 and run TTS.

A more casual cool girl cut on these premium tees, RE/DONE revives a retro 70's vibe with their denim and tee-shirt range. The fit is sexy meets comfortable, layered under a blazer or with high-waisted cargo pants. Their cropped tee's and cotton tanks have a decent amount of stretch and keep their shape throughout the day. These styles run TTS and start around $95. RE/DONE tees are also cut with a high fashion look if you want to emulate some celeb looks.

A few more favorites of mine are the Monrow and ATM brands. Both at the premium quality level with prices starting at $78, these brands offer beautiful cuts that look current but not lazy. Style these buttery soft tee's for travel or with your athleisurewear, or layer one under a chunky or cropped cardigan.

Finally, a Gap tee shirt is a classic and absolute must-have for any day of the week. Quality and style come together in this all-American brand - over 50 years old, BTW! Gap brought on new creative director Len Peltier in February 2020, infusing his passion for music and high fashion into their strategy and campaigns. Snag a few tee's for your wardrobe to keep on rotation starting at under $20, and pro tip they tend to run slightly large.
