Packing Tips
What Are We Wearing?
Planning our long-awaited vacation getaways is exciting and stressful, especially when it comes to packing. If you're like many people and wait until the last second to pack your bags, here are a few tips that may help alleviate some of those dreaded pre-travel to-do's.
Lay out an outfit for each day you're away. Planning your looks in advance helps keep things straightforward and decisive, so you're not debating what to wear while you're away, and this helps keep your suitcase from becoming overpacked. Don't know where to start? Make a list for each day of what you're doing and where you're going, and then list out what you will need/want to wear and go from there. Edit the list down where you can, and then pull your items. I like to lay my looks out on the bed or on a rolling rack to see everything and get a feel for how it will look.
Wear pieces more than once throughout your vacation. For example, try wearing a beach coverup as a dress for dinner and wear it to the beach the next day. So many great styles are available that can easily crossover in this way. Pull versatile bottoms or shoes you can wear throughout the trip and help minimize your items. I love a chic pair of white denim and a black strappy sandal. These items work well with many components and ensure you get the most wear out of your suitcase.
Choose Easy-To-Wear Accessories
Packable hats are the ideal travel companion. You can roll, stuff, and fold them as much as you want to get them to fit into your bags, and when you arrive, they quickly bounce back to their original shape. I recommend investing in a quality version. A well-made hat will not only look more flattering and sharp, but it will last for many seasons to come. Another versatile accessory is a classic pair of sunglasses. Easy, effortless, and chic - you can wear one pair throughout your trip without compromising style.
Packing valuable jewelry is a worrisome task. Of course, you want to wear your prized possessions, but you may not want to risk losing them on your trip. I suggest opting for a faux collection. This way, you can achieve the glamorous look you love. If you lose a piece, you won't be devastated. Many options look just like the real thing, so have some fun when you're shopping for these pieces!
