NYFW - the unofficial kick-off of Fall with presentations from the world's most talented designers, models, and their teams. The city was wide awake, the streets were a-buzz with the excitement of this year's designer unveilings, and the style from all the fabulous guests did not disappoint. I attended the Son Jung Wan, and Private Policy shows over the weekend, and they were electric. Seeing all my fellow stylists, celebs, and influencers collaborating at the events brought an exciting wave of inspiration and creativity. I can't wait to show you what I have been working on for styling, shopping, and trends!
Where I Stayed
I decided to stay at one of my favorite hotels, the Soho Grand. Touted as "Manhattan's original luxury boutique hotel," it certainly lives up to its reputation. This hotel exudes opulence and glamour with all the NYC energy we love to drink up. You can stop by the Soho Diner for some retro-inspired grub, sip a designer cocktail at the Grand Bar & Lounge and take in all the beautiful people watching, then close the night dancing away (like I did) at the Club Room. Don’t forget to grab a delectable breakfast at Lafayette Grand Cafe & Bakery around the corner.
My Looks
It goes without saying that the stakes are high during fashion week; it is one of the most stylish events of the year, depending on who you ask (or follow). This year was no different. I chose a Marques Alameida houndstooth mini dress with one of my favorite over-the-knee boots from Stuart Weitzman. I always feel confident in a great pair of boots, and there are so many styles to choose from right now - be sure to check out my IG story highlight on boots! I skipped the tights given the warmer weather this year, but when the Winter months arrive, OTK boots make for a chic and functional extra layer of warmth. I'm seeing a lot of black and white this season, and I'm here for it. I love the contrast between these two colors. White tends to brighten an outfit, creating crisp, clean lines, and black lends itself to a deeper, more formal, and polished appearance. Wearing these colors together makes for a timeless, classic, and sophisticated feel.
I LOVED this fit. I wanted a little more edge and texture, so I went with a high-waisted, voluminous leather skirt by Zadig & Voltaire and the chicest studded booties by Christian Louboutin. I toned down the leather with a cropped ribbed tank by Sandro, one of my signatures, Bottega Venetta sunnies, and a sporty Stella McCartney cross-body bag. It's all about balancing the silhouette with the right fabrics and fit of your garments. The idea of wearing a crop top is scary to many women, but it doesn't have to be. If you like this, experiment at home by pairing a cropped tee, tank, or blouse with a high-waisted leather skirt, pants, wide-leg trousers, or leather shorts. Search great options for crop tops at Zara, Reformation, Free People, COS, and AGOLDE.
The Afterparty
I wore a sleek and sexy green knit strapless dress by dissh. I spent the night dancing and cheers-ing with my fellow fashionistas to celebrate the day's exhilarating shows and immense talent. I kept it simple with a pair of strappy sandals and exposed shoulders. This is a piece every woman should have on standby in her closet for when an event comes up. You can wear boots, pumps, sandals, or platforms with this style, and on top, grab a leather blazer, moto, cropped or tailored jacket, or even a long trench to add a little mystery.
The Shows
I attended the Son Jung Wan show on Saturday and was blown away by all the gorgeous pieces that graced the runway. Lots of bright, sunny colors for Spring 23' like yellow, lime, bubble gum pink, and lilac. We even saw elegant black and white pieces. The luxurious fabrics of the dresses, jumpsuits, and separates delicately draped the models and brought the colors to life with sweet details like ruffled layers, illuminated silk sheen, giant puff sleeves, and playful fringe. It was such a beautiful show, and I am so thankful to have been invited; thank you to the team at Son Jung Wan!
Saturday night was the Private Policy show. If you're unfamiliar, this is a genderless and inclusive NYC-based brand that started in 2016. Since then, celebs and stylists alike have been inspired by the brand's elevated streetwear vibe and sense of community through originality and individual style. The event was packed wall to wall, and the energy was intense. The music played as the collection took hold of the already captivated audience, showcasing more delicious summery tones of yellow, green, creamsicle, and pink. Edgy details like midriff bearing cutouts, plunging necklines, more striking black and white prints, and oversized pockets were juxtaposed with the soft colors. The crowd went wild for a fabulous performance to close out the show; it was so much fun. I am so grateful to have been seated at this unforgettable event - thank you to Private Policy and their incredible team!
A special thank you to NBC 10's The Hub for having me on the show to talk all things NYFW!
