Outfit Ideas for Fashion Week

What Are We Wearing?

I am SO excited to be attending NYFW again! I have a lot of exciting plans for my trip to NYC, and to kick things off, I am headed to the Private Policy show tonight. Looks run the gamut for major fashion events such as fashion week, but if you are looking for some high fashion inspo, here are ideas I pulled together for the momentous occasion.

The Power Suit

A sharp, tailored power suit exudes confidence, strength, and style. I love to shop, suiting each season to see how designers update their silhouettes and fabrics. For NYFW, I love a new suit for a few reasons: it's so easy to put together and feels very appropriate for the occasion. And who doesn't love a good excuse to buy another beautiful suit? I style fresh suits with clean layers underneath, like sheer bodysuits and turtlenecks, for both the warmth and added fashion factor. If you're wearing full-length pants, go with a platform bootie over a pump for comfort, and for ankle-length pants, I'd opt for a sock bootie or low-heeled pump for these busy days. If a skirt suit is more your speed, knee-high boots would be a great choice, putting comfort in line with style.

Statement Separates

If you prefer a styled look with separates, consider a statement piece like a bold jacket or a midi skirt. Temper the louder details with straightforward pieces like a ponte legging or calm neutral tones to balance the look. Some of my favorite silhouettes for stylish pieces that provide comfort during a busy day of style events or at the office are knit leggings - not athletic leggings, A-line midi skirts, wide-leg trousers, and relaxed cardigans layered over a bodysuit, cami or blouse

Comfortable Shoes

It's going to be a busy, fast-paced 48 hours in NYC, and while I want to look my best, I also need to be comfortable. Long days and thousands and thousands of steps mean smart choices that can keep up. Style and comfort can be a challenging combo; I have a few go-to shoe styles and brands that never disappoint. A platform bootie may seem counterintuitive because the heels can be very high, but the platform helps take the pressure off the ball of your foot, making it a more comfortable choice. A low-heeled pump or bootie, think 2" or less, is always classic, and my friends at Larroude make heels that have extra padding to withstand the long hours on your feet. Stuart Weitzman also makes beautiful boots and heels with flexible soles that bend to your foot, making the shoe easy to break in and keep on for hours.
